Lydia Jacoby, with a gold medal performance in the Women’s 100M Breaststroke, has positioned herself for possibly two additional finals at the Tokyo Olympics.

Selection of the final four team members to compete in both the Mixed Medley Relay and the Woman’s 4X100M Medley Relay will not be released officially until basically the swimmers hit the pool; however, the USA Olympic Swim Team has some precedence in its selection process.

Mixed Medley Relay

New to the Tokyo Olympics, the Mixed 4×100 Medley Relay will be contested in traditional medley relay order (back, breast, fly, free), with two men and two women filling out the four legs. Each nation can choose which legs will be swum by the men and which will be swum by the women.

The event will swim heats on the evening of Thursday, July 29, with finals on the morning of Saturday, July 31.

Jacoby is eligible for selection as the USA breaststroke leg for Team USA.

The first heat of the Mixed Medley Relay is scheduled for 10:21 p.m. Tokyo Time (5:21 a.m. Alaska Time) on Thursday.

The Mixed Medley Relay Final is scheduled for Saturday at 11:43 a.m. Tokyo Time (Friday at 6:43 p.m. Alaska Time)

Women’s 4X100M Medley Relay

Contested in traditional medley relay order (back, breast, fly, free),  Team USA will select one swimmer for each stroke, with the selection based on performance at the Tokyo games and coaches decision.

According to Swimming World, “The American women’s medley relay has mostly taken shape already. Besides Jacoby on breaststroke, she will have fellow teenagers swimming before and after her with Regan Smith on backstroke and Torri Huske on butterfly. The likely candidate to handle the freestyle leg is Abbey Weitzeil, who had the fastest split on the U.S. women’s 400 free relay Sunday morning with her 52.68.”

The first heat of the Women’s 4X100M Medley Relay is scheduled for Friday at 8:57 p.m. Tokyo Time ( 3:57 a.m. Alaska Time)

The Women’s 4X100M Medley Relay final is scheduled for Sunday at 11:15 a.m. Tokyo Time (6:15 p.m. Saturday Alaska Time)
