The Kenai Kardinal football team traveled to Fairbanks for a delayed opening of Kenai football’s regular season on Saturday, Kenai falling to North Pole 36-0 in a non-divisional contest.
North Pole 36 – Kenai 0
The North Pole Patriots opened with a kick return for a touchdown just 15 seconds into Saturday’s contest with the Kenai Kardinals and the Patriots rolled from there for a 36-0 victory.
Kenai, joining Division III football in 2021, struggled on offense against a DII Patriot team which was riding a 30-6 victory over Chugiak in week one of the high school football season.
The Kardinals have an open weekend in their schedule next weekend. Kenai faces Houston on September 3rd in the Kardinals’ first DIII game.
