Author: KSRM News Desk |

Skilak Glacier Dammed Lake began releasing on Friday, October 1, according to the National Weather Service.

The release will cause a slow rise in water levels on Skilak Lake and the middle Kenai River, cresting around bankfull levels after Tuesday, October 5th.

Residents and river users between Skilak Lake and Sterling should be prepared for unseasonably high water.

As with any glacial system, there is uncertainty.
