DHSS Reports Over 1,547 COVID-19 Cases, 3 Deaths & 202 Hospitalizations In Weekend Update

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports over 1,500 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths and 202 hospitalizations in the data update on Monday from Friday through Sunday. The three Alaska residents who died were a female Anchorage resident age 80 and older, a male Anchorage resident in his 70s, and a male Fairbanks resident in his 60s.

 

Of the 1,547 COVID-19 cases reported, 1,526 were resident cases and 21 were nonresident cases. Kenai reported 46 cases, Soldotna reported 28, Homer 21, Kenai Peninsula Borough North 18, Anchor Point 12, Kenai Peninsula Borough South 12, Sterling 4, Seward 3, and Nikiski 1.

 

There are currently 202 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and six additional patients who are considered persons under investigation (PUI) for a total of 208 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Twenty-eight of these patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 19.3%.

 

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 607.8. For boroughs and census areas: 26 areas are at the high alert level, including the Kenai Peninsula Region.

 

65.2% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 60.3% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 50.5% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are fully vaccinated.
