DHSS Repots 655 COVID-19 Cases, 3 Deaths & 170 Hospitalizations On Thursday

The state Department of Health and Social Services reports 655 COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths and 170 hospitalizations in the data update on Thursday. The three deaths include a female nonresident who was diagnosed in Anchorage in her 60s, a male Anchorage resident in his 40s and a female Anchorage resident in his 30s.

 

The case counts include 645 resident and 10 nonresident cases. Across the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai reported 17 cases, Soldotna 8, Homer 4, Seward 4, Kenai Peninsula Borough North 2, Kenai Peninsula Borough South 2, Nikiski 2, and Sterling 1.

 

There are currently 170 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and six additional patients who are considered persons under investigation (PUI) for a total of 176 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Twenty-three of these patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 14.4%.

 

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 565.5. For boroughs and census areas: 27 areas are at the high alert level.

 

65.4% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 60.5% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 50.7% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are considered fully vaccinated.
