Power Restored For Large Outage That Affected Most Of Kenai

9:00 P.M. UPDATE – The circuits that were impacted by this outage have been repaired and the power has been restored for those members, according to Homer Electric Association.

 

ORIGINAL: Homer Electric Association is reporting a sizeable power outage affecting nearly 2,700 members in the Kenai area. As of now, it appears that most of the town is without power. The areas of the Kenai Spur Highway roughly between Wildwood Correctional Center and Walmart are without power. The power outage was reported at 7:15 p.m.

 

Multiple crews are responding to what appears to be an equipment failure at the Marathon substation. HEA says that they do not believe this outage will be lengthy. Now that crews have isolated the problem, power is expected to be restored shortly.
