Kenai Hockey Drops 1-0 Showdown To Wasilla

The Kena Kardinals battled Wasilla through nearly three full, scoreless periods before allowing a game-winning goal just 1:42 remaining in regulation.  Kenai fell to Wasilla 1-0 in Friday’s pairing at the End of the Road hockey tournament in Homer.

 

Wasilla’s Sayer Sanders scored at 13:18 of the third period to give Wasilla a second victory for the tournament.  The Warriors defeated Homer 3-2 in overtime on Thursday in the tournament’s first round.

 

Kenai goaltender Carson Koppus recorded 24 saves on 25 shots.  Wasilla’s Jakob Barcelona recorded 22 saves on 22 shots.

 

Kenai faces-off against the host Homer Mariners on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. At the Kevin Bell Arena.
