DHSS Reports 0 Deaths & 750 Cases In COVID-19 Weekend Update

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports 750 new cases, 117 hospitalizations and 0 deaths in the COVID-19 data update on Monday from Friday through Sunday, indicating that cases are starting to slow down in Alaska. That 750 case count includes 6 nonresident cases. Across the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai reported 18 cases, Soldotna 11, Homer 3, Kenai Peninsula Borough South 2, Seward 2, and Kenai Peninsula Borough North 1.

 

There are currently 117 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and five additional patients who are considered persons under investigation (PUI) for a total of 122 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Thirteen of these patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 9.8%.

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 351.1.  For boroughs and census areas: 24 areas are at the high alert level.

 

61% of Alaskans aged 5 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 55% of Alaskans aged 5 and older have been fully vaccinated. 46% of the Kenai Peninsula Borough are fully vaccinated.
