The Alaska Earthquake Center is reporting a magnitude 5.9 earthquake was centered 7 miles northwest of the Iliamna Volcano.
The earthquake occurred at 1:42 p.m. at a depth of 94.8 miles. The earthquake was centered near the Iliamna Volcano located in the Lake and Peninsula Borough. Based on initial reports and preliminary data, the earthquake should not have caused any significant damage, but was felt by communities from Port Alsworth to across the Kenai Peninsula and into the Anchorage Bowl.
According to the National Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami warning, advisory, watch, or threat associated with this earthquake.
