The National Weather Service in Anchorage reports that a Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until 6:00 p.m. from Kenai to Anchor Point. Mixed precipitation is predicted with total snow accumulations of two to four inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch with winds gusting as high as 35mph during the morning.
Plan on slippery road conditions as the hazardous weather conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
Additionally, snow will reduce visibility at times, especially near the Cook Inlet with gusty northeast winds. Snow is expected to taper off and transition to freezing rain as the day goes on, but temperatures will rise to above freezing by afternoon.
Forecasters advise commuters to slow down and use caution while traveling.
