Grace & ACS Record Conference Victories-In New Conferences

Conference changes in 2021-22 moved the Anchorage Christian School Lions into 4A basketball and into the Northern Lights Conference; the Grace Christian Grizzlies remain in 3A; however, joined the newly-created Peninsula Conference.

Both ACS and Grace completed sweeps on Saturday in basketball conference pairings.

 

ACS vs SoHi

ACS Girls 70 – SoHi Girls 20

Sayvia Sellers scored 34 points including nine, three pointers in a 70-20 Lions victory in Northern Lights Conference play against the Stars.  The Lions lead 47-14 at the half.  Ellie Burns topped the Stars with six points.

ACS Boys 68 – SoHi Boys 64

The Soldotna Stars tied the game at 64-64 with less than 1:30 remaining on a Jakob Brown three-pointer.  ACS answered with a quick basket and with under :20 seconds remaining, SoHi’s Ethan Sewell, with a chance to tie the game, missed the front of a bonus at the free throw line and the Lions added an insurance bucket for the 68-64 NLC victory.  ACS’s Sean Malinas lead all scorers with 33 points including 12 for 12 from the free throw line.  Sewell lead the Stars with 20 points.

 

Grace Girls 45 – Kenai Girls 34

The Grace Grizzlies opened Peninsula Conference play with a 45-34 victory over Kenai, battling back from a four-point deficit 16-12 at the half.  Ella Boerger scored 24 for the Grizzlies including five, three-pointers in the second half.  Emma Beck topped the Kards with 22 points.

Grace Boys 67 – Kenai Boys 20

Grace confirmed their spot as the team to beat in the Peninsula Conference with a commanding 70-20, running clock, victory over the Kenai Kardinals in the first conference game for both teams.  The Grizzlies opened a 25-3 lead in the first quarter and lead 43-6 at the half.  Four players scored in double-figures for the Grizzlies, lead by Kellen Jedicka and Luke Lentfer with 13 apiece.  Wade James topped the Kards with 9 points.
