Alaska Senate Majority Responds To Governor’s State Of The State Speech

The Alaska Senate Majority held a press conference immediately following Governor Dunleavy’s fourth State of the State speech. One of the noteworthy items going into this speech is the fact that this is an election year and several Alaskans have signaled intent to run in the gubernatorial race. The question on everyone’s mind was whether or not Dunleavy’s speech was a campaign for re-election.

Senate President Peter Micciche said that he thought it was a very positive speech and said that there are many things in Dunleavy’s speech that most Alaskans will agree with. Sen. Micciche said that the key issue is that if legislators say they are going to do things together, than they should, stating that the legislature succeeds together or fails together. He does admit, however, that getting some of the solutions across the finish line will take a lot of hard work.
