Winter Weather Advisory For Western Kenai Peninsula And Western Prince William Sound

The National Weather Service in Anchorage reports a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect till 6:00 p.m. Thursday for a sizeable portion of the Kenai Peninsula. The advisory is calling for snow and blowing snow for Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, Cooper Landing, Whittier, Seward, Girdwood, and Moose Pass.

 

Total snow accumulations of between 2 and 4 inches for the Western Kenai Peninsula with winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour, with the worst conditions between Nikiski and Anchor Point. Areas in the Western Prince William Sound will see total accumulations of between 2 and 6 inches and predicted winds gusting to 35 miles per hour, with the worst conditions expected in Portage Valley.

 

Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility to one half mile or less at times. Slow down and use caution when traveling.
