Newspaper readers of the Peninsula Clarion have been receiving notices that home delivery will be ending for some readers on the Kenai Peninsula.
The notice reads:
“We regret to inform you that as of 2/8/2022 the Peninsula Clarion will be ceasing home delivery in your area. This change will affect your current subscription. This has been a difficult decision and not made lightly. Rising distribution costs are forcing us to eliminate many of our home delivery areas.”
There are several options customers can choose from for your subscription moving forward:
- Receive mail delivery of the Clarion. The Sunday edition will be delivered on Monday or the next of mail delivery if Monday is a holiday. The papers otherwise will arrive in the mail on the day of publication. With this subscription, you also will get digital access via their website and mobile apps.
- Switch to digital only access. The Clarion has a mobile app for phones and tablets, as well as the e-edition of the newspaper on their website.
- You can end your subscription altogether and get a refund.
Circulation Director, Doug Munn, states that they would hate to lose their subscribers, but understand if the aforementioned options don’t provide customer satisfaction. This news comes as the Anchorage Daily News, last year, announced that they will stop delivering their newspapers to the Kenai Peninsula.
The Clarion took to social media on Thursday, saying that they continue to be published five days a week, and distributed across the Kenai Peninsula, but state that they have been incrementally reducing the areas to which they are offering home delivery as an option for subscribing. In addition, they say that the newspaper is available for purchase at retailers from Nikiski to Homer and points in between.
Concluding the letter to customers, the Clarion says to call the delivery services number at (907) 283-3584 regarding the status of your subscription.
