The Nikiski Bulldog basketball teams are the latest casualty of the Grace Christian Grizzlies basketball teams; as the Grace girls defeated Nikiski girls 62-24 and the Grizzlies boys downed Nikiski 63-29 in Peninsula Conference basketball on Thursday at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.
Grace Girls 62 – Nikiski 24
The Grizzlies built a 32-8 lead in the first half and cruised to a 62-24 victory over Nikiski, improving the Grace girls’ record to 7-0 in the Peninsula Conference.
Ella Boerger lead the Grizzlies with 22 points; Nikiski’s Avery White topped the Bulldogs with 10 points.
The Grizzlies have secured the #1 seed in the upcoming Peninsula Conference tournament; Nikiski will be the #5 seed in the tournament.
Grace Boys 62 – Nikiski 29
A 27-5 first quarter propelled the Grace boys to a 63-29 conference victory over the Bulldog boys. Grace had four players in double-figures and were lead by Luke Lentfer with 15 points. Charlie Chamberlain lead the Bulldogs with 12 points, including three, 3-pointers. The Grace boys stand at 7-0 in the Peninsula Conference and own the #1 seed into the conference tournament at KCHS next week.
Nikiski travels to play Eastern Conference, formerly Southcentral Conference, opponents Houston and Redington for games on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Nikiski battles Houston at 6 & 7:30 p.m.; the Houston boys are undefeated in conference play and the Hawk girls are without a conference victory.
Saturday, the Bulldogs travel to Redington to face the Huskies. Redington stands in second in the Eastern Conference entering the weekend. Game times scheduled for 1 & 2:30 p.m.
