The March Madness Alaska 3A state basketball championships followed the tradition of the NCAA March Madness with top-seeded team knocked from the bracket in second-round play at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.
The #1 and #2 seeds on the 3A girls bracket and the #1 seed on the 3A boys bracket all fell in the winner’s-bracket, semi-finals on Thursday.
Top seed Monroe girls lost to Sitka 33 -31 and #2 girls seed Grace Christian fell to Barrow 60-52.
The top boys seed Houston Hawks dropped a 62-55 semi-final to Nome.
The Girls Championship game will match Sitka against Barrow at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Boys Championship game will match Grace Christian against Nome at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
