The Soldotna Whalers Wrestling Club dominated the competition at the Alaska USA Wrestling 2022 Folkstyle, Greco-Roman and Freestyle State Championships held May 5-7 at the Curtis D. Menard Sports Center in Wasilla.
Whalers wrestlers earned the Grand Champions overall title and also wrestled to the following:
- 1st place Folkstyle
- 1st place Greco
- 1st place Women’s Freestyle
- 2nd place Kids Freestyle
- 2nd place 16U+ Freestyle
The local wrestlers amassed 12 Triple Crown winners: Wrestlers that finished first in all three wrestling styles (folkstyle, greco-roman and freestyle).
