The Post 20 Twins American Legion baseball team recorded four league points with a 5-2 league victory on Wednesday against East Post 34 at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  The Twins are battling for a playoff spot and will close the regular season on Thursday against West Post 1 at Oilers Park.

Twins 5 – East 2

A two-run first inning and a three-run, third inning proved enough to down East Post 34 and keep the Twins hopes for a state tournament spot alive. Gabe Smith lead the offense going 2 for 3 with four RBI.  Andrew Pieh drove in one run for the Twins.  Malakai Olson earned the win with 3.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits; John Brinner closed the final 3.1 innings.

The Twins improve to 8-7 overall with 39 points.  The Twins are tied with Wasilla for the final spot into the state Alaska Legion tournament.  The top two teams in each division automatically qualify to the state tournament plus the next four teams regardless of conference based on total points.

The Twins final game of the regular season will be Thursday, July 14 against West Post 1 at Oilers Park.  The Twins need a victory, worth four points, for a chance to lock-in a playoff spot.
