The 65th Annual Soldotna Progress Days: Soldotna Rocks is set to kick off in on Thursday in Soldotna. The festivities are from Thursday, July 21st through Saturday, July 23rd. The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is helping rally the community together for this big event featuring live music and dance performances, the Progress Days Parade, food, and craft vendors, and more all weekend long.
Shanon Davis, Executive Director for the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce tells KSRM that festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in Soldotna Creek Park:
“We have handed the park over to the Food Bank for Thursday. All the great vendors will be there that you’re used to seeing on Wednesdays. Then there’s going to be some great entertainment. We’ve got Power Plant Comedy from comedian Matt Plant. They’re going to make us all laugh from noon to 1. Then, the Kenai Performers are going to be doing a preview of their fall shows from 2 to 4. Diamond Dance Project are going to be doing some modern dance from 4-5. That evening, we’re going to have Mark Hutton on the stage, he’s a singer/guitarist. He’s going to be playing some cover music. The Food Fighters, I love their name in conjunction with the Food Bank (hit the stage at 7PM). They were thinking of having a beer garden on Thursday night, but they decided that they wanted to keep things a little bit more food related and a little more family friendly for the food bank. They are going to be having a root beer (float) garden.”
The festivities continue Friday with a National Wildlife Refuge Guided Hike to Seven Lakes Trail at 10:00 a.m. Vendor booths will open at 11:00 a.m. and the beer garden (must be aged 21+) opens at 6:00 p.m. with free live music Friday evening featuring Dayton Williams and Friends at 6:00 p.m. and the Ridgeway Rouders at 7:30 p.m.
The parade lineup begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the Sohi parking lot with the parade beginning at 11:00 a.m. The route ends on N Binkley just after the Borough Building where the judges and MC are located.
