The Alaska Legion State Baseball Tournament opened play at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage on Thursday with the Kenai Post 20 Twins dropping a 3-2 decision to South Anchorage in the first round of pool play. Pool play is scheduled through Sunday with the top two teams in each pool advancing to bracket play.
South 3 – Kenai 2
The Kenai Post 20 Twins opened tournament pool play with a 3-2 loss to South Anchorage. The Twins managed only two runs on four hits scoring a run in the first inning and a run in the seventh inning. In the first, Dalton Deborski scored on a triple and a throwing error as the first batter of the game. In the seventh inning, the Twins score one run and leave the bases-loaded on the final out. South scored a single run in the first and a pair of runs in the second inning.
Malakai Olson started for the Twins and threw only two innings allowing three runs on six hits. Hunter Williams and Atticus Gibeon closed with four, scoreless innings.
The Twins are off on Friday and return to action Saturday at Mulcahy Park.
