Oilers Outhit But Split Friday Doubleheader With Bucs

The Peninsula Oilers outhit the Anchorage Bucs in both of Friday’s doubleheader games at Coral Seymour Memorial Park; however, the Oilers earn just a split with the Bucs winning 3-2 in game one and falling 2-1 in game two.

 

Oilers 3 – Bucs 2   Game One

The Oilers scored three runs on nine base hits for a 3-2 ABL victory.   Starting pitcher Hayden Johns threw six innings and allowed only two runs and five hits for the win.  Drake Frize closed with one inning recording two strikeouts for the save.

The Bucs opened the scoring with a run in the first inning and added a run in the sixth inning.  The Oilers scored two runs in the fourth and the game-winning run in the fifth inning with Trey Becker scoring on a sacrifice fly.  The Oilers collected nine hits and left nine on base.

 

Bucs 2 – Oilers 1  Game Two

The Anchorage Bucs scored two, first inning runs which held-up for a 2-1 ABL victory over the Peninsula Oilers.

The Oilers lone run scored in the bottom of the seventh inning in the seven-inning game.  The Oilers outhit the Bucs 8 to 4 and allowed only two hits in the final six innings.  Shun Sakaino lead the offense with a 1 for 2, 1 RBI, 2 BB effort at the plate.

 

The Oilers stand at 14-19 in the ABL and are currently in 4th in the standings; the Bucs own a 16-17 record and are currently in third place.

Saturday, July 23     Oilers vs Bucs     6 p.m.

Sunday, July 24     Oilers vs Bucs      2 p.m.

Monday, July 25      Oilers vs Bucs     6 p.m.
