Alaska State Troopers are investigating a reported death after receiving a report on Sunday afternoon before 4:00 p.m. Authorities responded to an address on Shorebird Lane in Anchor Point.

An investigation revealed that sometime during the previous 24 hours, 80-year-old Kenneth Defrancesco of Anchor Point died due to a gunshot wound. He had been found by a friend who was checking up on him after Defrancesco did not respond to phone calls and texts during the day.

Alaska State Troopers wrote that, based on the scene investigation, it appears that Defrancesco was exiting his vehicle when a firearm he was carrying came out of the holster and fired a round fatally wounding him.

There is no sign of foul play and Defrancesco’s body is being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

Next of kin had been notified.
