SoHi Freshman Leads Stars At ACS & Palmer Invitational Meets

Soldotna freshman Sophia Jedicki posted the fastest time in the girls freshman-sophomore race at the ACS Class Races and finished second overall at the George Plumley Palmer Invitational.

 

ACS Class Races: Girls

The SoHi girls sweep the top-three positions in the girls freshman-sophomore race lead by Sophia Jedicki posting a time of 12 minutes and 12 seconds on the 3.2 kilometer short course.  SoHi’s Annie Burns was second at 12:52 and SoHi’s Tania Boonstra was third at 12:54,

Soldotna earned the freshmen-sophomore team title with 32 points followed by Seward at 52 points.

In the girls junior-senior event, Seward junior Hailey Ingalls posted the fastest time of the day at 12 minutes and 11 seconds.  Homer won the girls team title as the only school with a full, scoring team.

Kenai’s Emilee Wilson placed third at 13:13, and Kenai’s Emily Moss finished 10th at 13:49.  SoHi’s top-25 finishers also included: Kaytlin McAnelly in 12th at 13:55, Megan Whittom, 16th at 14:13, Ashley Dahlman, 23rd at 14:52 and Avery Ciufo,  24th at 15:03.

ACS Class Races: Boys

Grace’s Robbie Annett won the Freshmen-Sophomore boys race in 10:17.   Kenai’s Chase Laker finished fifth at 10:59.  For Soldotna, Brenden Jones placed 21st at 12:10 and Isaiah Dickson placed 24th at 12:22.  Kodiak won the freshman-sophomore team title with 61 points; Homer finished second at 77 and Soldotna fifth at 137.

In the Junior-Senior boys race, Grace again wins the team title with Homer second, SoHi fourth and Kenai fifth.  Soldotna’s Jonathan Gordon placed 15th in 11:24. Other top-25 finishes included: SoHi’s Elijah Jedlicki, 20th in 11:54; SoHi’s Andrew Cox, 21st; Levi Mickelson, 24th and Finnley Loop, 25th. Kenai’s Zane Tews finished 30th.

 

George Plumley Cross Country Invitational @ Palmer

Girls Results

SoHi’s Sophia Jedicki placed second overall and lead the Soldotna girls to a fifth-place team finish at the George Plumley Cross Country Invitational in Palmer on Saturday.

Chugiak senior Campbell Peterson won the girls division in 19:27 on the 5-kilometer Mike Janacek Trail.  Jedicki, SoHi freshman, finished second in 19:37. Soldotna’s Tania Boonstra took 10th at 20:18.  Kenai’s Jayna Boonstra was the top Division II runner, finishing 11th overall in 20:19.

Boys Results

Homer’s Seamus McDonough outran the field at the George Plumley XC Invitational, the senior posting a winning time of 16 minutes and 11 seconds.

Kenai’s Greg Fallon was the only other Kenai Peninsula runner to place in the top-ten finishing ninth in 17:09.
