Kenai Establishes The 2023 Calendar For Regular Kenai City Council Meetings

The Kenai City Council adopted a resolution establishing the dates for regular meetings of the City Council for 2023.

After reviewing previous calendars, the City Council established that the meetings would be scheduled every first and third Wednesday of each month. Calendar exceptions included the second meeting in the month of July which will be cancelled due to the full attention of the administration needed during the peak season of the personal use dipnet fishery. Also on October 18, the meeting has been moved to Thursday, October 19 in the observance of Alaska Day.

Vice President James Baisden requested clarification if there were any other conflictions given that they changed dates for this year in December for the Alaska Municipal League conferences in Anchorage.

Kenai City Clerk Shellie Saner gave a response:

“I did try to contact the AML and find out what time their conference would be next year and they do not have that date yet.  I will note that we have three possibilities in November next year, if it (AML) winds up in the first week of December we could actually move the meeting, once we know, to that fifth week of November.”

Scheduled meetings still may be cancelled by the mayor if there is a lack of a quorum or for an emergency. If no other conflicts present themselves, the meetings will be held every first and third Wednesday of each month.
