Soldotna Clarifies The Violations Of Unlawful Interconnection Of Sewers

The Soldotna City Council enacted an ordinance to clarify the violation of unlawful interconnection of sewers under the minor offense schedule to include a fine for violation of Soldotna Municipal Code. This change has been made to keep the minor offense adjudication process efficient and effective.

Public Works Director Kyle Kornelis gives a brief overview of this change;

“Chapter thirteen, includes a section regrading unlawful utility interconnection of sewers to be specific. That indicates the violation is misdemeanor in nature. Last spring the council passed an ordinance repealing / replacing the minor offense table which is a more effective minor offensive procedure. This ordinance would simply amend that minor offense table to include the unlawful interconnection of sewers and it would repeal the section that notes it as a misdemeanor.”

After the enactment of this ordinance, any person, firm or corporation found in violation will be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine, or imprisonment for up to thirty days, or both.

The ordinance was enacted with five yes votes and one absence.
