The National Weather Service in Anchorage reports a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 12:00 p.m. Tuesday through 12:00 p.m. Wednesday for Soldotna, Kenai, Homer and Cooper Landing. Snow is expected with accumulations of 5 to 11 inches possible.
Expect periods of light snow Tuesday morning. A band of heavier snow will then form midday Tuesday along the Inlet and Sterling highway corridor Anchor Point to Kenai. This band will move inland by evening, with snow near the Inlet lightening up or even ending in some areas. The heaviest snow is expected east of Soldotna along the Sterling Highway from late Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.
Additionally, the National Weather Service advises drivers to plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
