With several feet of snow covering the Kenai Peninsula, many business and organizations will be closed or have modified hours for Monday, December 12th, 2022.
According to KPB Alerts, many of the Borough government buildings are currently closed or may have delayed openings due to the winter storm. Call the Kenai Peninsula Borough main phone number to confirm the delayed start times for individual departments at 800-478-4441. Dispatch services and fire & emergency services are on duty.
- The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District: Announced that most schools on Kenai Peninsula will be closed on Monday, December 12, 2022, due to weather and road conditions.
- The Study: Classes closed for Monday December 12, 2022
- Cook Inlet Academy: Classes closed for Monday December 12, 2022
- Kenai Peninsula College: The Kenai River Campus (Soldotna) and the KBC Campus (Homer) will be closed December 12, 2022, due to inclement weather. Students, check your email and Blackboard for further information from your instructors.
- Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula: All Boys & Girls clubs afterschool programs and administration office will be closed Monday, December 12th, 2022. Clubs include, Kenai clubhouse, Kenai Teen Center, Nikiski clubhouse, NMHS Club, Soldotna Clubhouse, Seward clubhouse and Kasilof clubhouse.
- Challenger Learning Center of Alaska: Closed for Monday December 12, 2022
- The City of Kenai: City Offices will be closed until noon, possibly later, depending on weather.
- Kenai Courthouse: Closed Monday, December 12, 2022, except for emergencies.
- Soldotna City Hall: Soldotna City Hall is closed today, December 12th, 2022, due to weather.
- Kenaitze Indian Tribe: All Kenaitze facilities, including the Dena’ina Wellness Center and the Kahtnuht’ana Duhdeldiht Campus, will be closed Monday, Dec. 12, as a result of current road conditions.
- Homer Electric Association: Due to inclement weather conditions and for the safety of our staff, we have elected to close our Homer and Kenai offices. Our phones will still be monitored by our technicians. However, our main office locations will be closed. We expect to be able to reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at our normal time of 8:00 a.m. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

- Kenai Center Senior Center: The Kenai Senior will be closed for meals, transportation, and activities on Monday, December 12. Offices will open after 12p.m. weather permitting.
- Sterling Senior Center: closed for Monday December 12, 2022
- Kenai Peninsula Landfill and Transfer Sites: Central Peninsula Landfill is expected to be open to the public at Noon, Monday, December 12th. The Homer and Seward transfer stations will be open regular hours. The Kenai, Nikiski, and Sterling transfer sites will be closed all day and are expected to reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13th. The unmanned transfer stations are not expected to be plowed immediately and no containers will be hauled on Monday, December 12th.
