The Nikiski Bulldogs tipped-off the 2022-23 basketball season with a season-opening pairing against the Mt. Edgecumbe Braves on Wednesday, dropping both varsity games to the Braves.
Nikiski begins play at the Sitka Coastal Holiday Shootout on Thursday with a first-round pairing against the host Sitka Wolves.
Mt. Edgecumbe Girls 53 – Bulldogs 25
A slow start doomed the Bulldog girls on Wednesday as the Braves opened an 18-0 first quarter lead on the way to a 53-25 victory. Ember Nelson and Shelby Burman each scored seven points for Nikiski.
Mt. Edgecumbe Boys 81 – Nikiski 37
The Braves lead 12-2 just minutes into the contest and the Mt. Edgecumbe boys never let up in a 81-37 victory over the Bulldogs. For the Bulldogs, Seth Payne scored a game-high 18 points.
Nikiski Basketball @ Sitka Coastal Holiday Shootout
The Bulldogs will compete in the Sitka Coastal Holiday Shootout running Thursday – Saturday, December 15-17 at Sitka High School.

Craig Jung Kenai River Challenge @ KCHS
The Kenai River Challenge features the boys and girls from Kenai Central, SoHi and Houston and the Ninilchik boys and South Anchorage girls in a round-robin format beginning Thursday, December 15th at KCHS.
All tournament games involving Kenai and SoHi will be broadcast on ESPN 1140AM, 96.9FM and streamed live at radiokenai.com.
