A combination of hazardous road conditions and canceled Alaska Airlines flights have resulted in teams from Soldotna High School and Ninilchik dropping from holiday basketball tournaments set for the final week of December.
SoHi Boys @ Capital City Classic
The Soldotna Star boys team, scheduled to open play at the Capital City Classic in Juneau on Tuesday, have withdrawn from the Southeast, Alaska tournament due to travel conditions on Monday on the Seward Highway and in Anchorage. The Stars were scheduled for three games in the four-day tournament.
Ninilchik Basketball @ Joe Floyd Tournament
The Ninilchik Wolverines girls and boys teams, entered in the 55th Annual Joe Floyd Basketball Tournament in Kodiak, Alaska, will not travel to Kodiak for tournament play. The Joe Floyd tournament was officially canceled on Monday with flights into Kodiak canceled by Alaska Airlines. The tournament will not be rescheduled.
Nikiski Boys @ Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic
As of Tuesday morning, December 27th, the Nikiski boys basketball team’s travel plans included driving to Anchorage and flying to Ketchikan for the 2022 Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs are scheduled to open tournament play on Wednesday against tournament host Ketchikan in the 9:15 p.m. game. The Bulldogs tournament games will be broadcast on ESPN 1140AM, 96.9FM and streamed live at radiokenai.com
