Peninsula Conference basketball opened for Nikiski and Seward on Friday at Nikiski and the Seahawks posted a pair of victories over the Bulldogs.
Seward Girls 36 – Nikiski Girls 24
Seward led throughout Friday’s contest building a 16-7 lead at the half and 26-19 after three quarters, on their way to a 36-24 conference victory.
Lena Jagielski topped Seward’s scoring with 12 points; Avery White led Nikiski with 9 points.
Seward Boys 41 – Nikiski 39
Seward trailed throughout the Peninsula Conference pairing at Nikiski until the final minute; Seward steals a 41-39 win on the Bulldogs home court.
Nikiski lead 24-15 at the half before Seward closed to 28-26 by the end of the third quarter. Nikiski managed to hold the lead until under a minute remained; Seward’s Nick Ambrosiani and Ben Ambrosiani combined for eleven, fourth quarter points to push the Seahawks past the Bulldogs 41-39. Seth Payne led Nikiski with 11 points.
