The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly will listen to applicants for the vacant District 3 Borough Assembly seat, deliberate, and make a motion to appoint a replacement member to the Assembly representing District 3 at the regularly scheduled Assembly meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 17th in the Betty J. Glick Assembly Chambers.

Approved applicants for District Seat 3, representing Nikiski, include:

Peter Ribbens, William Hubler, Heidi Covey and Lenora Niesen

According to Borough procedure, each applicant will be invited to address the Assembly during the Committee of the Whole and the Committee of the Whole will have the opportunity to conduct interviews. The Assembly may then choose to deliberate in executive session for the sole purpose of comparing applicant qualifications and discussing personal characteristics of applicants for appointment. The Assembly may not make an appointment decision in executive session. The Assembly must make the appointment decision during Tuesday’s Assembly meeting.

The successful candidate must receive the majority vote (five) by the remaining assembly members and will immediately be sworn in and seated following the vote.

The appointed member will serve on the Assembly until the regular election in October of 2023.
