Add national champion to the multitude to individual titles won by Sterling’s Morgan Aldridge.
Aldridge raced to the individual Women’s 40-44 age group championship at the USA Winter Triathlon National Championships contested at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, Alaska as the 2023 Tri-Flake Winter Triathlon.
Aldridge, wearing bib #1 finished 9th overall in a field of America’s top winter triathletes. She posted an overall time of 1:45:53 with a run time of 37:37; a bike leg of 45:01 and a ski leg in 23:14.
Alaska again proved to be the nation’s capitol for women’s triathlon with a pair of Alaskans finishing first and second overall. The fastest time was recorded by Anchorage’s Jordan Pruszenski,the 2018 national champion, in 1:34:12.5, just .19 seconds ahead of Anchorage’s Jessica Vetsch in 1:34:12.69.
The winter triathlon national championships consists of a 6-kilometer run on the Coastal Trail, an eight-mile bike leg and two laps through the 3-kilometer loop at Kincaid Park.
Men’s 2023 Tri-Flake Winter Triathlon
Anchorage’s Eric Flanders, 2022 USA Winter Triathlon National Champion, finished nearly two minutes ahead of Anchorage’s Cody Priest posting times of 1:18:55.3 and 1:20.42.17 respectively.
