The Seward Seahawk Classic and the Nenana Invitational Tournament (NIT) opened play on Thursday with Ninilchik battling host Seward in Seward and Cook Inlet downing Fort Yukon to open tournament play.

Seward Girls 66 – Ninilchik 23
The Seahawks defend home court with a 66-23 tournament opener victory over Ninilchik. Lena Jagielski lead the Seward girls with 21 points. Ninilchik’s Riley Tucker scored 18 to lead a young Wolverine squad which includes 8th-graders to fill the line-up.
Ninilchik Boys 58 – Seward 37
Ninilchik remained undefeated against non-4A schools with a 58-37 first-round victory over host Seward. Kade McCorison and Jaylin Scott led the Wolverine attack with 17 points each; Ozzy Deel topped the Seahawks with 11 points.
Other first round games included: Houston girls 42 – Eielson 11; Houston boys 95 – Ravens 27

CIA Girls 41 – Fort Yukon 26
Tatum Rozak scored 18 points and Hope Hillyer added 14 as the Eagles defeated Fort Yukon 41-26.
CIA Boys 57 – Fort Yukon 47
CIA’s Ian McGarry led all scorers with 34 points as CIA defeated Fort Yukon 57-47.
