Peninsula Girls Drop Hockey State Opener

The combined Kenai Peninsula high school girls hockey team opened play at the 2023 Alaska Girls Hockey State Invitational on Thursday with a 1-0 loss to South/Bartlett at Ben Boeke Arena in Anchorage.

 

South/Bartlett 1 – Kenai Peninsula 0

A single, late third period goal proved the game winner for the #2 CIC South/Bartlett girls in a 1-0 shutout of the Kenai Peninsula high school girls in the tournament’s opening contest.
The winning goal scored at the 10:19 mark of the third period by Taylor Maddox of S/B.

In goal for the Peninsula girls, Seanna Swanson recorded 34 saves on 35 shots.

The Peninsula girls continue tournament play on Friday in a consolation game against the loser of Fairbanks vs Chugiak/Eagle River at 12:45 p.m. at Ben Boeke Arena in Anchorage.
