Galen Brantley III, SoHi Class of 2020, placed third overall in the men’s 16-pound shot put event at the 2023 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
The Dickinson State University junior, Brantley threw the men’s shot 16.70 meters or 54′ 9.5″ earning NAIA All-American status. The second throw of the event, Brantley’s mark sets a new personal and program best, breaking his former best distance by 20 1/2 inches.
Last week, Brantley topped the field with a toss of 16.2M or 52’ 10 ¾” for the men’s title at the North Star Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Brookings, South Dakota.
