In the opening game of the ASAA 1A Girls State Basketball Championship, the Cook Inlet Academy girls built a 12-point halftime, battled foul trouble, and recorded a 49-35 first-round victory over St. Mary’s.

Tatum Rozak lead the CIA girls over the St. Mary’s girls with a 21-point effort, having picked-up four fouls mid-way through the third quarter. The Eagles closed with 14 points in the final quarter; six for Ella Rollman and eight for Rozak.
The Cook Inlet girls advance to the 9:30 a.m. game in Thursday against the winner of the Tanalian vs Nunamiut game (3:30 p.m. Wed.).
