The Ninilchik Wolverines held-off a tenacious Tikigaq Harpooner team for a 66-53 championship game victory for the 2023 ASAA/First national Bank 2A Boys State Championship on Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.
The Wolverines capture their second-straight 2A boys championship under head coach Nick Finley. Senior Cole Moore led the offensive attack with 21 points and freshman Kade McCorison added 15 points.
Niinlchik trailed by 11 points in the second quarter before a 10-0 run closed the gap to 28-27 Tikigaq at the half. A 21-point third quarter staked the Wolverines to a 12-point lead. Final Score: Ninilchik 66 – Tikigaq 53
