The Soldotna Riverfront Redevelopment Project will hold its second Open House event on Wednesday, April 19th at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex at 538 Arena Ave, Soldotna, beginning at 6 p.m.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to review and provide feedback on design concepts.

The Soldotna Riverfront Redevelopment Project seeks to work with land and business owners, residents, and community partners to create a one-of-a-kind riverfront experience that attracts locals and visitors with shopping, dining, and lodging in a walkable environment.

The Soldotna Riverfront Redevelopment Project kicked off in October 2022.  The City of Soldotna contracted with First Forty Feet, an urban design, community planning, and place strategy firm from Portland, OR to oversee the project.  First Forty Feet will offer multiple opportunities for public engagement throughout the planning process, and will present a Master Plan for riverfront redevelopment by November 2023.

The project area encompasses an 85-acre portion of downtown Soldotna, currently a mix of auto-orientated businesses along the busy Sterling Highway along with underutilized and undeveloped properties located between the Sterling Highway and the world-renowned Kenai River.

According to soldotnariverfront.org. ,”the redevelopment of Soldotna’s downtown area is an opportunity to strengthen the heart of our community.  Local feedback is important to the project team in identifying community values and goals for potential redevelopment in the project area.”

The Soldotna City Council will conduct a work session on Wednesday at noon at Soldotna City Hall.

Previous open house and Soldotna City Council work sessions were held on January 11-12, 2023.
