Peninsula Athletes Shine At Kenai Invitational Track Meet

The Soldotna Star girls and boys track teams dominated the team scoring at the Kenai Invitational Track & Field Meet on Saturday at KCHS with the Stars girls scoring 255 points and the SoHi boys amassing 236 points.

 

In the girls competition, SoHi’s Katelynn Morrison set Region III best marks in the high jump with a state best 5’1″ and in the triple jump with a distance of 32’3″; Morrison also won the girls 100M hurdles.  The Stars Sarah Brown sprinted to victories in the 100M and 200M and anchored the 4X100M and 4X200m winning relays.  SoHi’s Annie Burns raced to wins in the 800M and 1600M runs and was the lead-off for the winning 1600M Relay for the Stars.

Kenai’s Emma Beck threw a state-best 120′ 9″ in the discus and won the shot put with a throw of 34′.

 

On the boys side, Kenai’s Reagan Graves swept the sprints with a Region III best 11.38 in the 100M, a victory in the 200M, and a win in the 4X200M relay.

SoHi thrower Kevin Steger topped the shot put at 47′ 7″ and placed first in the discus at 123′ 10″.
