A combined shutout on the mound for SoHi pitchers Derrick Jones and Levi Mickelson and solid hitting added-up to a 12-0 shutout for the Stars over the Mariners in Homer on Wednesday.
The SoHi baseball team faces four straight opponents in four days, beginning with the win over Homer. Jones pitched six innings recording 10 strikeouts and allowing two hits; Mickelson closed with a scoreless, seventh inning. Mickelson also went 3 for 3 at the plate; Evan Appelhans was 3 for 5 with four RBI; Sage Cruz was 3 for 4 with two RBI and Andrew Pieh was 2 for 3 with three runs and two RBI.
SoHi faces Palmer on Thursday on the SoHi Field at 6 p.m. for the varsity game. On Friday, the Stars play Grace Christian on Friday at 6 p.m. and host Wasilla on Saturday at 2 p.m.
