The Kenai Kardinals defeated Kodiak and the SoHi Stars beat North Pole on Friday to advance to the ASAA Division II State Baseball championship game featuring both teams from the Kenai Peninsula.
SoHi and Kenai will battle in the Division II championship game on Saturday at 3 p.m.

SoHi 8 – North Pole 3 Friday semi-final
Soldotna Stars bats came alive on Friday at Wasilla High School against the North Pole Patriots to earn the chance to defend their state title on Saturday afternoon.
Derrick Jones pitched for the Stars and was retired in the seventh with eight strikeouts and one hundred pitches on the night.
The Stars add two runs on three hits in the top of the 6th inning to extend the lead to 5 to 2.
North Pole added one run in the bottom of the 6th making it 5 to 3.
SoHi added two runs in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch, and RBI single from Andrew Pieh and a base on balls send one home to extend the lead to 8 to 3.
Soldotna the defending ASAA D2 state champion with face Kenai for a state title match-up Saturday afternoon at Wasilla HS. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
Kenai 14 – Kodiak 1 Friday semi-final
A house of Kards overcame the Kodiak Bears on Friday afternoon at Wasilla High School to earn an D2 Alaska School Activities Association State Championship opportunity, following a 14-1 victory over Kodiak.
The Kardinals scrapped together 14 runs on 10 hits while the Bears were limited to one run on three hits. Kodiak committed five errors in the loss.
Following a 1-1 tie after the first inning, the Kardinals outscored the Bears 13-1 over the final six innings to clinch the win.
Kenai will face Soldotna, the defending ASAA D2 state champion for a state title match-up Saturday afternoon at Wasilla HS. Game time is set for 3 pm.
