The Kenai Police Department responded to a report of a possible assault at a residence off of the Kenai Spur Highway, near Mountain View Elementary around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, and arrested John R. Martin, 57, of Kenai, and Douglas Massey, 62, of Nikiski.

According to police, a woman called to report that she had been held against her will at a residence by two men on Saturday.
according to the police report, the woman said that the night before, she had went to a residence in Kenai, and was encountered by two men. Police Lieutenant Ben Langham says that she was believed to be held captive for approximately 12 hours.
“And then, while she was there, she was repeatedly beaten throughout the course of the night and prohibited from leaving that area.”
When the two men fell asleep, the victim was able to escape to a neighbor’s house, and use their phone to contact the Police Department.
When Kenai Police Officer Megan Swangel brought the victim back to the department, the affidavit stated that the victim was covered in marks and bruises along their head, arms, and shoulder.
Martin attempted to flee on foot when officers arrived on scene, but was captured in the woods behind the residence. Massey surrendered without incident. Both men were transported to Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
Martin was charged with second- and third- degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, and fifth-degree misconduct. Massey was charged with second- and third-degree assault and kidnapping.
Martin was recently released from Wildwood after serving 10 years of a 14 year sentence for manslaughter.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
