UPDATE 3:30PM

Crews have restored power to all but approximately 330 members on West Poppy. The cause of the outage was a broken insulator across from Cook Inlet Academy. The outage on West Poppy is due to a tree on the line and crews are currently enroute to remove the tree and restore power.

STORY:

A power outage is currently affecting nearly 4,000 households in the K-Beach area. According to Homer Electric, the cause of the outage is currently unknown.

Lineman crews have been dispatched to the origin of the outage.

Homer Electric had this to say on their Facebook page about the situation:

“We are aware of a large outage affecting 3,900 members between K-Beach and Soldotna. Crews have been dispatched. Additionally, we are experiencing an extremely high call volume which is making it difficult for members to get through to our outage reporting system. Please bear with us…we appreciate your patience. Too soon, mother nature, too soon!”
