The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 7th through Wednesday November 8th at 5 p.m. for Turnagain Pass to Summit Lake.
According to the the National Weather Service snow expected with total snow accumulation of 8 to 14 inches. Expect an initial round of light to moderate snow to develop Tuesday night with light snow accumulations likely. The snow is then expected to diminish or taper off early Wednesday morning before a second round of heavier snow develops by late Wednesday morning.
This second round of potentially heavy snow will continue through mid to late Wednesday afternoon before temperatures warm and precipitation changes to rain. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are likely Wednesday afternoon. Rain on top of snow will likely cause ponding of water on roadways.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Heavy snowfall rates could significantly reduce visibility. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
