It’s time to bring out the baking sheet and the cookie cutters, because the 11th Annual Gingerbread House Contest is here! That’s right, the Kenai Chamber of Commerce has brought back another year filled with delicious and delectable designs.

According to Recruitment & Development Coordinator Liam Floyd, the submissions are accepted until November 15th. Then on the 16th, it’ll open judging to the public.

“So we open public voting from November 16th to December 15th so just about a month of public voting and then after that we’ve got the 21st so we collate all of the all the numbers and then December 21st that is when we are gonna be doing announcement of the winners” said Floyd.

But who says that gingerbread houses are just for kids? This year, the chamber wants to welcome gingerbread house enthusiasts of all ages!

“This year, I mean we opened it up. So it’s it’s not just kiddos now it’s you know, kids and adults and submission is open until the 15th of November. I’m pretty excited to see what else we get coming in this year,” said Floyd.

The chamber received their first submission on November 7th, which was adorned with peppermint twists, rope vines, an other assorted candies. While other submissions do not need to be edible, they do have to have gingerbread, and must fit on a 12 in. x 12 in. disposable base.

While this was the first submissions, everyone is excited to see what other creative creations come through their doors.

“[We’re] super excited about that and really excited to see who else is gonna be, you know, swinging by,” said Floyd.

So what are you waiting for, get your piping skills on, and get a gingerbread house creation submitted to the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.
