Heavy Snow Forecasted For Turnagain Pass Beginning Tuesday Evening

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Turnagain Pass in effect from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning November 29th to 9:00 p.m Wednesday evening, November 29th.

 

Snowfall of 10 to 16 inches can be expected, with wind gusts up to 25 mph. Snow showers Tuesday night will become steady snow Tuesday morning. Snow will intensify by mid morning with snow rates up to one inch per hour possible Wednesday afternoon through early evening.

 

The National Weather Service warns that the roads will be extremely slippery, and areas of blowing snow could reduce visibility. Drivers are asked to drive slowly and with extreme caution while traveling through Turnagain Pass.
