Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week ending January 16th:
- Representing the Kenai Kardinals is volleyball player Emma Beck
- Beck was named Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year for Volleyball .
- Leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is basketball player Maggie Griener
- Griener played against Homer where she scored 14 pts, grabbed 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. She lead the team in all categories.
- Selected for the Soldotna Stars is hockey player Gehret Medcoff
- Gehret led the team with two goals in the 2-1 Win over Homer.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week, each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
