Structural Fire At Fairbanks International Airport

A fire broke out Monday night at the Fairbanks International Airport on Monday.

 

The Fairbanks International Airport Communications Center received a report of a structural fire at the installation on Airport Way just before 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15. Airport Police and Fire Officers, in collaboration with the University and City of Fairbanks Fire Departments, immediately responded to the scene and worked to extinguish the blaze.

 

Fortunately, there were no occupants present at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported. The affected building, owned by Fairbanks International Airport and leased by Budget Rent a Car, has been declared a total loss. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.

 

The safety and well-being of our community, employees, and partners are of utmost importance to us. We appreciate the swift response of our Airport Police and Firefighters and supportive efforts of our emergency services partners in safely containing the situation.

 

Air operations were not impacted by the event. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
