Author: KSRM News Desk |

Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.

For the week ending January 23rd:

  • Representing the Kenai Kardinals is volleyball player Chase Laker
    • Laker took 2nd place combined @ Lynx Loppett and was a member of 1st place boys team.
  • Leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is basketball player Seth Payne
    • Payne led his team last week in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots while also leading in fewest turnovers. Even though his work on the stat sheet is helpful the best thing about Seth has been his willingness to give his best effort more and more while keeping a good attitude through some tough games this week.
  • Selected for the Soldotna Stars is cheerleader Savannah Hawkins
    • Hawkins is very dedicated to the sport, and always brings positive energy to events and practices.

Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week, each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
