Much to the dismay of those still hunting for the 2024 KSRM Easter Egg, it has been found!
Destiny Ashkenasy and Danielle Miller returned the winning egg to the KSRM studios on Monday afternoon to claim their $2,000 prize.
Danielle Miller described where the egg was hidden;
“So off of 4th and 5th Ave. The bridge that goes down in between the two roads in Kenai. So, we were looking there and it, you know, I just decided to go up to the top and there was a lot of garbage in there, so I took the clue as dirty. Just looking around. And then all of a sudden I just looked in a stump in a hole and there it was.”
Destiny Ashkenasy talked about searching for the egg across the peninsula;
“Ohh gosh, earlier today we were all the way out in Kasilof by Crooked Creek and Johnson. I actually made it all the way down Tustumena and almost got stuck in my car. And so I said Nope, I’m done. I’m waiting on Dani. I’m not gonna be out here alone. I think probably total this year we’ve spent maybe 80 hours.”
The KSRM Easter Egg was hidden under a stump off the trail at Shqui Tstnu Creek Trail in Kenai.
When asked about what clue led them to the egg, Ashkenasy and Miller said,
“The daily clue about cold water, definitely. We kind of tracked it down to those signs. We Googled it. We went to every sign and took pictures. We sat down and talked about it, went and of course walked and looked at every week, every single one of those signs. But today was the tread. Yep, the tread. The tread line that says tread lightly or with your shoes treading.”
When asked what they are going to do with their $2,000 prize, Destiny said: “Save it.” and Danielle said” “We’re going to Anchorage.”
Congratulations to this year’s winners! Mark your calendars for the 2025 KSRM Easter Egg Hunt.
